And so I finally decided to quit my 9-5, generously-paying job. Why on Earth?! (You may ask). Well, here are my Top Three Reasons:
- Hubby and I want to be hands-on in taking care of our Little Bundle of Joy - She just recently turned one and is beginning to demand more attention from us. Heartbreaking whenever one of us leaves for work, she reaches out and keeps on crying for us.. :(
- Heavy traffic in the Metro - As it is just Hubby and I taking care of the little one (we take turns as he works daytime and I work nights), we cherish every extra minute we can spend with her. The usual 15-minute drive to work turned to 45 minutes - it's so impractical especially for a mom working on night shift with little to no sleep in the AM.
- Unhealthy work environment - Sure it was fun, but it became a routine. I was stagnant, I don't feel I am growing with them anymore. Maybe it's me, I'm not too sure, but one thing I'm sure of - I am not happy anymore.
I started thinking about the possibility of leaving my job end of January - when my baby became a little too clingy and time demanding.
I signed up on Upwork, OnlineJobsph, goLance, Outsourcely, Freelancer, Rarejob, GoTranscript, etc.
I started submitting proposals on Upwork and OnlineJobsph my last week at work and got a fixed rate job a couple of days before my 11-year commitment ended (Not bad for a newbie!).
I made a separate post for tips on going freelance based from my experience. Read on! :)
